Domain
A major, enduring field of the Firma Order. Domains give the Order its broad shape — the territories within which related Spheres, capabilities, and initiatives operate.
A new operating system for humanity. Firma is building an integrated order through which people, technology, capital, formation, infrastructure, and place work together toward human flourishing. Not one application, one company, or one community — an Order capable of holding many distinct fields of stewardship without collapsing them into one centralized structure.
Working status: proposed organizational language. Domains, Spheres, projects, and relationships shown here are not finalized unless explicitly marked ACTIVE.
The Firma Order is the whole. Within it live distinct areas of work — capital, technology, formation, frontier settlement — each with real authority of its own, none of them the center. The center holds shared purpose. The edges are trusted to act.
Authority moves down. Accountability moves up.
THE ORDER MOTTOThe Firma Order uses only four organizational types, and they nest in one direction: Order → Domain → Sphere → Pod → Role. No departments, no business units, no circles, no super- or sub-anything. Each word performs exactly one function, which is what makes the structure legible rather than merely elaborate.
A major, enduring field of the Firma Order. Domains give the Order its broad shape — the territories within which related Spheres, capabilities, and initiatives operate.
A durable institution, place, venture, fund, or mission body within a Domain, with its own continuing purpose, authority, and accountabilities. A Sphere is not created for every project.
A continuing team or capability home. Pods preserve knowledge, practices, and capability over time, and contribute into work happening across multiple Spheres.
What one person or agent owns — its purpose, its authority, its accountabilities, and the Pod or Sphere in which it is held. A person may hold more than one Role.
Domains organize Firma’s major fields. Spheres hold enduring missions. Pods preserve continuing capabilities. Roles define what each person or agent owns.
THE SHORTEST EXPLANATIONThis is more language than the earlier Sphere-and-Pod model, which forced fundamentally different things — Domains, institutions, products, capability teams, and projects — into the same two categories. Each word now performs one clear function. That makes the Firma Order easier to understand rather than more complicated.
| Question | What it gives | Signal |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Why does it exist? Purpose gives direction. | DIRECTION |
| Authority | What may it decide and steward? Authority gives the freedom to act. | AUTHORITY |
| Accountabilities | What must it reliably do? Accountabilities create obligation. | OBLIGATION |
Every Domain, Sphere, Pod, and Role answers these same three questions. Authority is not merely a topic someone works on — it is a bounded territory of recognized decision-making: a resource, process, system, standard, place, relationship, or class of decisions.
Not every unit needs large or exclusive authority. Every unit needs a clear Purpose and Accountabilities. Authority is declared where protected or delegated decision-making is necessary.
The Firma Order is not a pure flat system and not a management doctrine. It keeps light hierarchy, Foundation governance, a Vision Council, and real leaders called Stewards.
| Who | What they hold | Register |
|---|---|---|
| Firma Sovereign Foundation | Governs and protects the Order. | GOVERNS |
| Vision Council | Holds shared direction and coherence across the Order. | DIRECTION |
| Stewards | Lead and support their Domains and Spheres — direction, resources, people, constraints. Bounded, not absolute. | LEAD |
| Pods | Preserve capability and contribute it across boundaries. | PRESERVE |
| Swarms | Concentrate capability on one outcome, then dissolve. | COMPLETE |
| Roles | Act with autonomy inside declared authority. | ACT |
A leader may set direction, define constraints, allocate resources, and hold a Sphere, Pod, or Role accountable. But genuinely delegated authority does not require permission for every decision inside its boundary. The enclosing Domain or Sphere may formally change, narrow, or withdraw a delegation — it should not reclaim it informally whenever it dislikes a decision. Otherwise delegation is symbolic and every meaningful decision still rises to the center.
These are not five separate Orders — they are the five major fields of the one Firma Order. Only the encompassing Firma Order is called an Order. The Spheres nested below each Domain are shown with their working status; nothing proposed should be read as operational.

Products and systems such as Firmamint, THEOS (in product scope with LightCI), Firmagentics, NOMOS, and Realm devices are products, programs, or initiatives — the work moving through the Order. They are not Spheres, and they are not Pods either. A Project draws a Swarm from the Pods; see section 05.
NOMOS is a Firma-owned legal platform. A specifically designated portion may be free and open source; the platform as a whole is not open source.
Firma Edge may eventually become a Domain if manufacturing, supply chain, capital allocation, leadership, and product operations develop enough independent structure. Until that authority exists in practice, Edge is a Sphere within the Firma Labs Domain. Firma Photon likewise remains proposed until its operating boundary is established.
This is not another organizational hierarchy. It describes the work moving through the Firma Order: Product, Program or Initiative → Project → Swarm. The organizational view and the work view are two different maps, and they should not be forced into one giant chart.
The actual things Firma is building, operating, or advancing. NOMOS is a product or platform. Network State Cohort is a program. Saffron Honey GTM is an initiative. These are different kinds of work — not continuing capability teams, and not levels of authority.
A bounded body of work with a clear outcome and a condition for being finished. Every Project answers four questions: what must be accomplished, who owns the outcome, what authority is required, and how we will know it is complete.
A temporary cross-functional team assembled to complete a Project or reach a defined outcome, drawing the necessary Roles from different Pods, Spheres, or outside collaborators. When the outcome is complete, the Swarm dissolves or reconstitutes around a new mission.

Pods preserve capability. Swarms concentrate capability on an outcome. A Pod persists. A Swarm completes.
THE DISTINCTIONA NOMOS release Swarm might hold an engineer from the Engineering Pod, a designer from the Design Pod, a legal architect from the Legal Pod, a storyteller from the Story Pod, and an external jurisdiction expert. None of them leave their Pod to join it. The Swarm exists for the outcome.
Products, protocols, projects, and brands begin as products, programs, or initiatives, worked by Swarms. They become Spheres only when they require durable stewardship, leadership, and internal structure — and Domains only when they become a major, enduring field of the Order.
THE RESTRAINT RULEImportance does not determine organizational level. The map describes authority that actually exists — not every future ambition.
Not everyone in a Firma place is a Firma employee or member. People may hold several distinct relationships at once — and none of them should be inferred from the others.
Default to Role-holder, Steward, builder, contributor, and participant — not corporate terms.

Freedom to act. Responsibility for what we build. Firma is building a new operating system for humanity — and the ATX Settlemint is where part of that Order becomes visible, lived, and tested.
